PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT

What's the difference between an autobiography, a biography, and memoir?
An autobiography is the story of your entire life, from the time you were born to the present. It's a story you tell about yourself.
A biography is similar to the autobiography, but it's the story of someone's life told by someone other than the subject.
A memoir focuses on just one event, period, or theme in your life. It's not the story of your life, just one aspect of your life.
What is a short story memoir?
A short story memoir is a collection of stories. So many of us want to share our stories, but the thought of writing an entire book can be overwhelming. A short story memoir helps you get started with just one story ... and then another.

Choose a theme, an event, or a personal accomplishment and start there. Write one story, then another, and before you know it, you'll have a collection. And a collection of stories? Well, then you've got a book.

My life's not that interesting.
Ask three people what makes an interesting life and you'll get three different answers. While an interesting short story memoir can recount a wild adventure or gut-wrenching life event, that's not what makes it worth reading. What makes it valuable is your take on what happened.

How you tell the story.

People want to read stories that resonate. Stories they can identify with.

The stories you tell could be about the pets you've had and what you learned from them, your first job, how you started your business, or what it was like that first and only time you went to summer camp. It's the common experiences, disappointments, successes, and life affirming joy that people are looking to connect with.

Writing a short story memoir allows you to share what you've seen, experienced, and learned. If it's interesting to you, chances are it will be interesting to someone else.
Can you help me with with a longer memoir?
Yes. Whether you start with one story at a time, or have already written parts of your memoir, we can pull it all together and create a book people will want to read.
Can you help me with a business memoir or corporate history?
Absolutely. A short story memoir is a great way to share your expertise. It can help position you as an expert in your field ... and become a lasting legacy of your work and your business.

I'm not a writer, can you help me tell my story?
Yes. Through interviews with you along with any diaries, documents, and papers you have, we'll bring out the best in the story you have to tell and make it worth reading.
Can you help me figure out what to write about?
Yes. Developmental editing is an important step in the process. Together we'll figure out where to start, what to include, and how to tell your story so it's interesting and holds your reader's attention.
Can you help me edit my writing?
Absolutely. Whether you're a seasoned writer and need light copyediting, or a new writer who needs more help with structure and story, we'll pull it all together so the writing is crisp, clear, and interesting.
Can you help me put my writing into book form?
Sure thing. Together we'll review cover designs, page layouts, chapter heads, photographs, illustrations, your title page, dedication, and even talk about how to sign your book when it's published.

We'll talk about whether or not you want a soft cover or hard cover book and whether or not you want to release your book to a public or private audience.

When your book is ready to be published, you'll receive the files you need to for publication and I'll walk you through the entire process.

OK, let's talk about my memoir
